2010 Minneapolis Marathon Training E-mail

Minneapolis Marathon Training Group

Congratulations! You are a Minneapolis Marathon & Half Marathon Finisher! That is something to be very proud of. Make sure to show that medal off with pride and tell lots of people. It is a very rewarding experience for us to see all of the runners that we have come to know through our training group cross the finish line on Sunday June 6, 2010. Completing a marathon is not something that ends when you cross the finish line; it is an accomplishment that you can take with you forever, whether it is with another marathon or applying the hard work and optimistic attitude toward other areas of life.

We hope that you will continue to stay involved with Team Ortho and that we will see you at other events. If the marathon was a onetime thing you should consider signing up for the other events that Team Ortho offers. With our series of 5 races our goal is to keep you active year round and create an active lifestyle community that will make it easy to stay involved. Another great way to stay involved with Team Ortho is through volunteering. A great majority of our volunteers have come from this training group. It is a fun way to give back to the running community and catch up with the friends that you have made through this group.

We would also like to hear your story. Please submit your marathon or half marathon story, blog, or picture links to us. We would like to use them to inspire others and continue to get new people into a healthy active lifestyle.

Make sure to take it easy for the next 10 days. Completing a marathon is very physically demanding. Some of you are probably very sore. This is normal. Make sure to stretch a few times a day, drink lots of water and rest. Slowly ease back into a routine of exercise over the next two weeks. Maybe take up a new activity such as biking to give your legs a rest.

Don’t ever forget the great accomplishment of finishing a marathon or half marathon. Be proud, enjoy your summer and find a new goal to set your eyes on.

See you soon,

Caleb Olsen

First Training Run for the 2010 Mpls. Marathon! E-mail

Team Ortho Foundation was psyched up and ready for our first training run of the season for the Minneapolis Marathon!  Not only were we excited to see our friends and fellow Team Ortho runners, but starting this training MUST mean spring is right around the corner!

It was an overcast, but nice February day for our training run. About 70 people joined us for the 5 mile run on February 20th, 2010. The training route followed the first part of the Marathon course. Before the run started many people earned a Minneapolis Marathon knit running hat by telling Caleb why they run or what inspires them to run! See the inspiring video on Facebook here.
