This week’s Ambassador Award goes to Don Sullivan! Don is an active participant in Team Ortho Foundation events as well as a loyal volunteer. We are excited to share Don’s passion for staying healthy and active. As a thank you to Don, we will reward him with a Minneapolis Marathon fleece.
TO: How long have you been running and participating in running events?
DS: I began running late in life, in 2008, at the "tender" age of 34.
TO: What was your first Team Ortho Foundation race?
DS: [My first Team Ortho race was the] 2008 Monster Dash Half Marathon. I loved the course and the race atmosphere, [I then] signed up for the 2009 Monster Series right away.
TO: What is it about Team Ortho Foundation that keeps you coming back to our events as a participant and/or volunteer?
DS: I love the atmosphere that Team Ortho events generate. The events encourage participation from a wide array of abilities and promote active lifestyles and exercise. I love racing, but I also love volunteering at the events. Whether that be at the package pickup sites, marathon bag preparation or being a pace leader during races I feel great about helping out an organization that helps so many people on a daily basis.
TO: Do you have any recommendations on how to recruit people to get out there and be active?
DS: Imagine the rush of adrenaline after you accomplish something that is totally new to you and maybe even a bit daunting. That feeling sticks with you for many hours after the race or event and prompts you to go out and sign up and train for another event. |
