Congratulations to Alexa Trussoni! Alexa has been chosen as this week’s Ambassador Award winner. Alexa has been a loyal volunteer as well as active participant in Team Ortho Foundation events. We are excited to share her enthusiasm toward Team Ortho and positive attitude for having an active and healthy lifestyle.
TO: How long have you been running and participating in running events?
AT: I started running 2.5 years ago, and did my first 5K about 21 months ago, hard to believe it's been that long already! Seems like yesterday I wouldn't have signed up to run a mile if you paid me.
TO: Do you have any recommendation on how to recruit people to have an active lifestyle?
AT: My recommendation for people is to just take it one step at a time. It took me seven months of running to do my first 5K, so it doesn't happen overnight.
TO: What is the most satisfying part of volunteering?
AT: I love seeing the results and how happy they make people. For instance at the Lucky 7K people were raving over the medals at the after party, and it was so fun to know I helped put them together. I also love volunteering in communications for Team Ortho (TO) and spreading my excitement for TO events on to other people, whether it's their first race, or their 50th.
TO: What is it about Team Ortho that makes you want to volunteer your time to our foundation?
AT: I like that Team Ortho gives back and especially that they are welcoming to runners of all abilities. TO is just happy that you are out there whether you're an elite runner, or a walker trying to get in shape.
As a thank you to Alexa, we will be sending her a Team Ortho fleece.
